Mandatory CPD

CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT REQUIREMENTS

As of January 1, 2008 By-law 67 requires all members, except exempt members, to complete prescribed minimum levels of continuing professional development to assist them in maintaining their professional competency throughout their careers. Exempt members means members who are exempted from fees under by-law 21(2) and who are no longer providing professional services in any capacity, whether or not for remuneration.

For 2008 onwards, the minimum required amount of continuing professional development that a member must complete is as follows:

(a) at least 20 hours annually, and

(b) 120 hours over a 3-year period

(c) at least 60 hours of the 120 hour 3 year requirement shall consist of verifiable continuing professional development.

Continuing Professional Development comprises learning opportunities that provide for the development of new or existing competencies that are relevant to the individual member’s overall professional responsibilities and growth.
